Foster City CERT has been pretty busy over the last couple of months. Continuing Education classes included Radios, Lifts and Carries, ICS, Trailer Orientation, Traumatic Wound Care, a Triage and Treatment drill, Division Supervisor training, Red Cross Shelter Operations training and finally, a Get Ready! class this Saturday. In addition to this, we held a Graduation/Skills Day in March, an Activation Drill in Gull Park in April and CityFest in June. Just recently the County Health Department held a full-scale CERT exercise at Coyote Point Park in which about 45 CERT members took part. All those, plus continuing CPR and first aid classes, means there’s always an opportunity to brush up on your CERT skills. Have we seen YOU lately?

Upcoming events include Radios Review on July 10, an Activation Drill in Area-B on July 21 and another Skills day on July 28, this time for staff at Gilead and Visa who will become members of Foster City CERT.

In addition, we are looking for a few good people to staff a First Aid/CERT Information booth on July 4thfrom noon to 5:00 pm by the Senior Center, and also the same detail on August 4thfor a Family overnighter event at Boothbay Park, from 4:00-10:00pm. Let Brad or Fumi know if you can help.

BTW, all of our scheduled CERT events are now up on out NEON online database. If you do not know how to access it, here is the URL:

The plans for the merger of the three fire departments and their CERT groups continues to move forward. We are all looking forward to increased opportunities for training, events and resources. Watch this space!
