Summertime, and the Livin’ is Easy…”

As we move into the summer months, it’s time to take a break from teaching CERT classes, and think about what improvements we can make to the team, moving forward.

But first, the news….

Foster City CERT completed its second CERT training of 2017 on June 24. We had a great class of 26 people from all around the community, 18 of whom were graduated at the final graduation drill. In the morning there were five stations for skills review: ICS and Planning; Radio skills; Cribbing; Triage and Assessment; and Treatment.

All stations were staffed by “Cert-ified” instructors who made sure the graduating students were performing their skills correctly. In the afternoon everyone was involved in a Search & Rescue Drill. The group broke into teams and performed Triage, Search, Extraction and Treatment. The drill lasted about 2 hours and truly exposed everyone to the chaos and exertion one would experience in a real-world scenario. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped stage this great day! You ROCK!

Onwards, Ever Upwards…
