Greetings to our team members! I am your new CERT Coordinator, and I am writing this blog as a way of staying in touch with all of you, to keep you informed of what is happening with Foster City CERT.
For those of you who don’t know, I started out with the CERT program in its birthplace, Log Angeles. I originally trained with the LA City Fire Department, where I got to know many of the people who first envisioned the program and built it up. After I became an instructor in 2000 I started my first CERT group in the mountain community of Topanga Canyon. I later started a second team when I was employed as the Emergency Services Coordinator for the City of Malibu. I’m proud to say both teams are thriving today.
Since I joined Foster City Fire Department as their new CERT Coordinator on February first, I have had the pleasure of seeing many of our team members at several neighborhood meetings. We are very lucky to have a team of so many great supporters, many of whom have been members since the program first started up! What I hope to bring to the team is an opportunity to make FC CERT as capable as possible, as valuable to the community as possible, and to make your CERT experience as interesting and FUN as possible.
I bring a great deal of ideas and experience, but one of my first goals is to listen to you. FC CERT has been going for quite a while, and has had its share of ups and downs. I hope to learn from the membership what has been great about the team, what might improve some aspects of the team, and any other constructive thoughts you’d be willing to share.
Feel free to drop me an email at: email@example.com. I look forward to hearing from you, and seeing you at a CERT activity soon.
